A Look at ICM 2008TRANSFORMED! Changing to Reflect His Glory! (1 Corinthians 3:18)
TRANSFORMATION is what God is always up to in our lives and in our ministries. ICM 2008 challenged children’s ministers from sixteen states and Canada to pursue His transformation in their lives and ministries. Here’s what a few of the ICM participants had to say:
“The Institute has transformed my thinking. ‘I can do all things through Christ!”
“ICM has given me so many new ideas that I am going to take home to bring transformation to my ministry.”
“I have been inspired to better serve children. I have been blessed by the workshops and many testimonies of how God is able to develop the ministry if I invest my time.”

The highlights of this year’s ICM included an onsite tour of local children’s ministries. Yes, we boarded buses and went out to see what God was up to in transformed ministries around the city of Cleveland. The Exhibitors’ Extravaganza was another highlight of this year’s Institute with participants receiving free resources from a variety of exhibitors as well as being given the opportunity to learn more about the latest transformation materials available to children’s ministers. Of course, daily highlights were the workshops and intensives that challenged and guided us in thinking through the areas of possible transformation in our ministries. The team of instructors included Dick Gruber, children’s ministry specialist at Valley Forge Christian College, as well as a teaching team of children’s pastors from local ministries of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Again this year, God’s Holy Spirit, the transformation agent, was at work. Early morning times of
spiritual formation with our ICM pastor, Kay Horner, were especially memorable—challenging us to be transformed through a personal passion for Christ. On Friday evening Tony Sutherland and the KidPak Praise Band from Free Chapel in Gainesville, Georgia ministered to us in amazing worship and a challenging Word of Faith—to look beyond the walls into the land God has given us as a possession.
The ICM staff believes the 2008 Institute is a tool God is using in the lives of children’s pastors and ministry volunteers to bring about transformation. May our ministries, our lives, and the lives of children we serve can become true reflections of His glory.
